Humphry Slocombe Ice Cream serves up interesting flavors

"Secret Breakfast" Ice Cream

After dinner tonight in the Mission District in San Francisco, my friends and I headed over to Humphry Slocombe Ice Cream for some dessert.  This place definitely has some interesting flavors of ice cream.  I personally tried the Secret Breakfast, which was vanilla ice cream with crushed frosted flakes and bourbon.  The ice cream itself tasted almost like french vanilla ice cream, but then there was also a kick of bourbon once you really got into it.  I liked it and it tasted pretty good.  The bourbon taste was a little strong though in my opinion.

I also tried the Blue Bottle Vietnamese Coffee, which actually tasted exactly like Vietnamese coffee.  The flavors are comparable to regular coffee ice cream, except there is a fuller, darker, and stronger coffee flavor.  It was also pretty good and most people on yelp seem to like it as well.  If you visit their website, you can see a complete list of all the different flavors they have.  However, they don’t carry every flavor every day.

And just a word of caution for those adventurous types out there.  Yes, they have some really intriguing flavors, but they are not always good.  My friend’s curiosity got the best of him and he tried the Peanut Butter Curry flavor the last time he was there.  He said it was horrific and doesn’t recommend that anyone try it.  So beware, you have been warned!

i LOVE the viet coffee. i’ve been twice and got it both times. i think the other flavor he tried was pepper + mint or something, cuz my coworker said it was good. it was literally a ball of ice cream with pepper.

    glad you liked it!

  2. This is at the top of my list of places to get to. I am so dying to try the ice cream there. I wish they delivered. Hah!

Good news is they sell their ice cream flavors in pints in case you need to stock up at home after your trip to the store!
